Accidental harvest
While re-staking some tomatoes, I broke the stem of two that were heavier than I realised. So I had an accidental harvest. While I was about it, I also took another harvest of the poi saag. Husband likes the taste of the raw poi saag leaves and wants me to try making them into a salad.

I also sometimes have accidental harvest when trying to repair trellis that need repairing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading my blog. It's good to know that others have these accidents too. I felt like a real klutz when I let the tomato stem snap. But the tomatoes are turning red nicely in their basket on my kitchen counter so I comfort myself that no real harm was done.
ReplyDeleteJeanne, I have some seeds on the poi saag plant, the green seeds have turned into dark maroon and almost black. How do I save these seeds? Can I directly slow them?
ReplyDeleteAarthi, you should be able to directly sow the seeds. It looks like they've matured. But the right person to ask is Raj Panda. Try leaving a comment on his blog.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, sow some seeds and keep the others to dry. Once they're dry, you should be able to store them for later planting.

ReplyDeleteAarthi, I haven't tried growing more poi saag plants because the two I took from Raj are quite enough for me. My vines haven't flowered at all; yours must have since you have seeds. If I get seeds, I may try germinating and growing them out of curiosity.
ReplyDeleteDear Jeanne, I love the title of this post "Accidental Harvest" ... it made me smile. There seem to be many accidental harvests in my garden when grandsons visit.
